Pantone Corporation Lists Down the Most Stylish Home Trends for 2018

Home Trends for 2018

Pantone Inc. has been known for their proprietary color space known as the Pantone Matching System (PMS). Now the New Jersey–based company is rolling out their early predictions for the interior designs poised to go big this coming 2018. Ready to start planning ahead? Here are the most stylish home trends for 2018.

Pantone Predicts Hottest Home Trends for 2018

In the last few months of 2016, Pantone rolled out their top two colors of the year. One was Serenity, a light tranquil blue, and the other was Rose Quartz, a warm, baby pink hue. Of the two, Rose Quartz proved to be a massive hit with designers. The light pink shade continues to be ever-present in fashion, online layouts, and interior designers. Over time, it developed several nicknames including the widely popular term “millennial pink.”

So what is the relevance of all this? Well, it is solid proof that if any company has a particular eye for trendy designs, it has to be Pantone. Below you won’t just find the company’s stylish predictions, but you’ll find tips on how you can recreate the looks in your own space as well.

1. Geometric patterns

Geometric patterns have been a hot trend in interior decorating for over a year, with zigzags and stripes often featured on magazines. You can choose to go for a minimalist look or a more eye-catching one. If you want to make a statement, pick a pattern with a mix of colorful and bright shades. If you choose to be more subtle, muted neutral shades are a better option.

When it comes to decorating with geometric patterns, it is not necessary to just stick to wallpapers. You can use it in everything from the tiles to pillow cases or even a single accent wall.

When it comes to choosing a specific geometric design that will flow harmoniously with your interiors, it is important to consider your existing color scheme first. Go for a decent-sized print that won’t end up overwhelming the actual size of the room. Finally, go for a design that reflects your personal style.

2. Typography

If you want to make a bigger and bolder statement, then try out typography. This trend has been around for a while, but it did not pick up heat until 2012. Quotes, a dream destination, and simple letters are just some of the popular design schemes that liven up personal spaces these days. They manage to look good in modern loft apartments, condominiums, town homes, and everything in between.

3. Wood treatments

Interiors are finally moving away from the typical white and gray tones! Given the eco-friendly technologies used to harvest and shape materials, natural elements like wood have now become more popular than ever. In fact, wood has even gone on to replace marble and metal. Designers have predicted that more and more homeowners will be using this earthy material in unexpected places like bathrooms, ceilings, and accent walls.

4. Fringe

Believe it or not, fringe is going to be one of the hottest home trends for 2018. Fringe can be seen in blankets, throw pillows, and curtains. Most people have the wrong impression about this classic design piece. They fear that the use of it may cause the whole space to look outdated and dull. In contrast, fringe actually adds a modern touch to any home. Keep your eyes open for small furniture pieces like footstools, light fixtures, and curtains.

5. Metallic

Gold, brass, silver, bronze, and rose gold have been popular for quite some time now, and it looks like they’re not going anywhere soon. Metals have a way of providing a pop of color to any room. The key to using them is to allow these bold hues to take on a dominant role next to more subtle pieces. For example, try neutralizing a metallic recliner with a traditional white sofa to balance out the tone.

Another way to make your home feel more inviting is to use metallic copper. The shade is perfect for warming up any home. You can use anything from copper pillow cases to a spray-painted lamp shade to bring life into any space.

6. Iridescent accents

Recent furniture and graphic designs feature iridescent color effects. They’re showing up everywhere for a very good reason. The eye-catching design emits a beautiful color gradation effect when light strikes its transparent surfaces. The luminescent sight is comparable to the interior of a seashell or street pavements after a heavy rainfall. Though bold and a little out of this world, the iridescent trend has secured its spot as one of the best home trends for 2018.

Today, iridescent designs come with a hefty price tag. But you don’t have to go all out right off the bat. Start with smaller accessories like clocks, pillows, or tables first.

7. Intense colors

The fact that Pantone specializes in color makes it pretty sensible that they’ll save the best for last. For 2018, the company predicts that shades are going to be literally intense. Colors like bright blue, fuchsia, purple, and green will wind up being complemented by iridescent surfaces made of turquoise and hot pink tones. Sound a little too much? You can always switch things up by going for cooler tones. Plum is an example of an intense color that is definitely Pantone-approved.
