The Design of the Native Beach House in Carmen
The Native Beach House in Carmen is inspired by the traditional nipa hut that Filipino families in rural areas live in. The place is roomy and well-ventilated due to the materials used. Cogon grass is used for the roof and bamboo slats for walls, allowing natural lights to pass through and giving the green abode a natural glow. The capiz shell windows, on one hand, allow the fresh sea breeze to enter the hut. Inside are purposely placed high-quality custom-made furniture such as queen-sized bed and hardwood dining table.
The full-sized bedroom can be found in the second floor. With the sea breeze blowing into the windows from all sides, a good sleep is almost guaranteed. The second bedroom, which is actually an extension of the main room, has a convertible bed and can be occupied by younger children or can also serve as an extra lounging space.
This traditional Filipino house in the Native Beach House may look so simple, bamboo and all, but it’s actually really spacious with some modern amenities. All its appliances are solar-powered. It also has a 40-inch flat TV screen and sound system placed under the stairs.
In the same room where entertainment devices are located, you can find a daybed that you can use to laze. This particular daybed is actually larger than a king-size bed. A suspended mosquito net is also available for use especially at night. The entertainment area can easily serve as the third bedroom.
Located in the first floor is a well-equipped kitchen where you can put your cooking skills to use. But in case your attempt to domestication fails, five full-time staff are available to rescue you and cook variety of foods. You can choose from freshly caught seafood, meat, or vegetable from the property’s garden—or have all of them.
If you feel like walking beyond the property boundary, you can catch a glimpse of the local life of your friendly neighbors. The municipality of Carmen is a beautiful town known for its many hot and cold springs. There are even caves and waterfalls in the area that you can explore. Other activities you can enjoy while in the area are hiking, biking, snorkeling, diving, sailing on a 50-foot catamaran, or island hopping around Camotes Island.
